Ice hockey in Mercury is governed by the Mercury Elite Hockey League. Ice hockey is the most national sport of Mercury, and is the third most popular sport in regards to both participation and spectating, with the Elite League considered to be on of the strongest leagues on Micras.
History
The MEHL was accepted as a member of the MHL in 2013, competing in the qualification competition for the 2014 MHL World Championships. Their first international fixture was a 7–3 win over neighbouring Nova England, with the team eventually finishing top of the group.
Domestic hockey
The highest domestic league in Mercury is the Mercury Elite Hockey League, which contains twenty-four teams, including six foreign teams. The feeder league is known as the MEHL Challenge League, consisting of two tiers, and 30 men's teams.
The strongest clubs in Mercury are generally considered to be Bisminster Battalion, Mercury Hornets and Nafferton Panthers.
International hockey
Mercury is represented in international ice hockey by the Mercury national ice hockey team. The national team play in yellow, white and red. They are considered to be one of the strongest on Micras, although they have had limited success throughout its history, with the 2018 Micras Games being their only major tournament win. The team have been in the 'A' Conference of the MHL World Championships since gaining promotion in 2014.
