Medallion of the Ezboard Medal

The Ezboard Medal was established by HRM King August Charles II in 2005. The medal was created following the Ezboard Data Loss Incident, a wide-ranging data loss that wiped out most of the Kingdom's cultural, community, and government records in May 2005. The medal recognizes the perseverance and dedication of those Gotzers who helped the Kingdom quickly recover and rebuild.

History

On May 31, 2005, the Royal Kingdom suffered its worse data loss ever, when the entirety of its forum archive, from March 2004 to date, was wiped out during the Ezboard Data Loss Incident. In response to that data loss, the active citizens of the day banded together to recover as much data as possible from offline archives and web browser caches, while also participating actively to help the Kingdom recover operationally.

In recognition of those efforts, King August Charles II created the Ezboard Medal by Royal Decree 2005-03 on June 8, 2005. That decree ordered the medal to be struck to commemorate May 31, 2005, by acting "forevermore as a reminder of what was lost in information, creativity, energy and passion". The criteria for a citizen to receive the medal was that he or she must have been active within the two-week period prior to the incident.

In total, eight citizens were awarded the Ezboard Medal, with the date of award made retroactive to May 31, 2005.
