Biography

A veteran micronationalist active since 2001 in the Anglophone Simulationist Community, Liam Sinclair has served in a number of high level positions in various micronations and throughout the community. A prominent journalist of the community and a former co-owner and administrator of Micronations.net, Sinclair joined Gotzborg in 2005 having left the Atteran Empire where he was their longest serving Prime Minister. Since joining Gotzborg, Sinclair has quickly advanced through the ranks of the Royal Government and has become one of His Royal Majesty's closest advisers.

Micronational Participation

Liam Sinclair joined the Anglophone Simulationist Community in August 2001, when he joined the Commonwealth of Interland, a micronation active in the Micras community. When Interland joined the United Republic of Tymaria, Sinclair became its Minister of Defence following the resignation of Mik'el Tzion during the TYSOG Incident. His early participation in the Micras community also included citizenship in the Republic of Aerlig, where he played an important role in the early development of its military.

With the dissolution of Tymaria, Sinclair became primarily active in the Republic of Amerada as a politician who voiced strong partisan opposition to the rule of President Earl Washburn, though he later would come to cooperate with Washburn, serving as his Vice-President. Upon the defeat of Washburn in the December 2002 Presidential Election, Sinclair served under President Nicholas Bridgewater before retreating to a role as the micronation's historian, through the founding of the Amerada History Society and the publication of an extensive history text, Amerada: The Story of a Nation. Sinclair also participated during this time in a number of other Micro-Monde Cartography Society micronations, such as New Macadam, South Mondesia, and Pacary, all of which shared a common population.

On emigrating from Amerada, Sinclair returned to the Micras community to focus his energies as a citizen of the Atteran Empire, as a result of his close friendship with Tzion due to their shared services in the Tymarian Defence Force. He was Attera's longest-serving Prime Minister (from December 2002 to August 2004), and served in various other roles, such as the micronation's top civil servant and as Chief Electoral Officer, until February 2005, when he resigned his citizenship in protest against Tzion (then-Emperor) refusing to abide by popular-opinion amongst Atterans to dissolve the Atteran Commonwealth.

Sinclair had, in the months preceding his resignation from Attera, formed a close personal relationship with Gotzborg, by virtue of him being Attera's ambassador to it. On resigning from Attera, Sinclair obtained citizenship in Gotzborg, where he quickly rose through the ranks of the Royal Government. Gotzborg has since been Sinclair's primary micronation of residence, except for during the Hiatus of 2007 to 2010, when he primarily participated in the Kingdom of Novasolum, to which several high-ranking Gotzers immigrated during that period. As a citizen of the Kingdom of Novasolum, Sinclair was active as a Crown Servant, maintaining the micronation's official gazette, and as the Royal Marsh of Chivalry.

Journalism

Sinclair began his micronational journalism career in October 2001 by way of his involvement in Amerada, when he founded the Micronational Free Press. By 2003, Sinclair had become one of the prominent journalists of the Anglophone Simulationist Cmomunity, and he continues to be active in the field through the publication of the Coprieta Standard. He is believed to be one of the longest-active micronational journalists on the Internet.

FNORD Awards

Sinclair, as a co-owner of Micronations.Net, regularly teamed up with Micronations.net founder, Iain de Vembria, to organize the Micras Sector's annual community awards, the FNORD Awards. He served as the Chair of the Judging Panel for the awards from 2004 to 2007. He has also been the recipient of a number of the awards, primarily for his journalism work. In 2008, the FNORD Award for Excellence in Micronational History was named in honour of Sinclair due to his dedication in documenting the community's history via the Royal Institute of Micronational Antiquities.
