The "Rhodopean Harpy": religious fanatic and terrorist leader. Image collated from survivor accounts.

The Harpy of the Rodopi is nom de guerre of the leader of a following of maenads and their acolytes, active in the provinces of Aqabah, Molivadia, and the Ecclesiastical Mountain Republic. The strongholds of the Harpy are to be found amongst the Rodopi mountains of Central Eura. By her part in the frenzied attacks on government officials and civilians, culminating in atrocities that include human sacrifice, the Harpy is strongly suspected of leading a schismatic branch of an officially prohibited cult.

Her existence first came to light during a series of attacks on border towns and Home Guard outposts during 1694 AN.

In the subsequent sixty years, her identity as a historical figure would come to be conflated with that of the quasi-mythical Duranian Anahita, a vampiric creature of folklore feared in the Highlands of Central Euran.

Also utilized by Constancian parents to oblige obedience from their children, as she is said to abduct disobedient, disrespecful children in the night, that even the State Protection Authority is unable to resolve such disappearances.
