Athils Valisson (1645 – 1745) was a Vanic black metal musician, ideological militant, war criminal, and founder of the ZZ Battalion. Known for his radical devotion to the Vanic religion and participation in numerous controversial events throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, Valisson remains a polarizing figure in Keltian and Idunnic history.

Early Life and Musical Career

Valisson was born in 1645 AN in Idunn. At the age of eighteen, he became a user of the legendary Idunn Apples, known for their age-slowing properties. Immersed in the extreme metal subculture of Idunn, he performed in several underground death metal bands and released a demo with the group Bathurt.

From a young age, Valisson professed deep devotion to the Vanic religion, particularly worshiping the figure of Harald Freyu. In 1663 AN, he moved to Haraldsborg in pursuit of greater musical opportunities. There, he met communist musician Hallgrim Englisson, and together they founded Gna, an early Vanic black metal band notorious for its extremist content and alleged violence against the Christian minority in Idunn. Tensions rose within Gna as Valisson's side project Gurgum gained popularity. In 1673 AN, Valisson learned of Hallgrim’s alleged plan to assassinate him. In response, he broke into Hallgrim’s residence and stabbed him 37 times, reportedly shouting "By Harald I swear!" with each strike. He was arrested shortly thereafter and remained in a high-security prison until the fall of Stormark in 1685 AN, during which he escaped amid widespread chaos.

Exile, Fraud, and Pornographic Industry

He later crossed into Hurmu as a refugee and was granted citizenship following rehabilitation. However, after refusing to change his name, Hurmu police publicly revealed his identity, leading to another ten-year imprisonment. He was released in 1695 AN. In the early 18th century, Valisson joined the Heartlanders' Interest League, an activist political party. At the same time, he was involved in fraudulent activities in Huyenkula’s red-light districts, earning illicit income, much of which he spent on smuggled Idunn Apples.

In 1712, Valisson co-founded the adult film company Grazzers, despite his prior homophobic views. He partnered with Runof Gdasson in 1719 AN, and though initially unsuccessful, the company boomed during the 1720s. By the late decade, Grazzers reached its golden era. In 1732, the business was attacked by Krasnocorian mafia groups, and by 1740 AN, it was placed under government trusteeship following accusations of financing Vanic militant cells. Valisson fled to Keltia soon after.

Militarization and the ZZ Battalion

In 1743, Valisson officially joined the Keltia Restoration Movement (KLM). The following year, he founded the ZZ Battalion, a paramilitary group loyal to KLM. The ZZ Battalion achieved multiple victories against Orton forces on the Eastern Front and successfully defended Rohan. After the establishment of the East and North Normandie (EANN) in 1745 AN, Valisson became commander-in-chief of the ZZ Battalion. Under his command, the battalion took part in several controversial operations, most notably the occupation of Karum, which he executed without external support. During the occupation, Valisson was accused of carrying out systematic repression, and he oversaw the early construction of the provisional EANN city called Brazzerville.

Defection and Death

On 8 November 1745, Valisson defected to the Confederacy of the Dispossessed, shocking both allies and enemies. While attempting to withdraw his troops from Karum and reach Lake Rodina, he was killed by an unmanned aerial drone strike on 11 November 1745.
