Karl Philipp Arthur Jürgen Battenberg (born in Schneedünen, 1.VI.1648; died at the same place in I.I.1744) was a whaler and nobleman from Whales, Lord of Schneedünen 1688–1744, and head of the Battenberg family. Famous for proposing the name Principality of Whales and the flag of Whales (both proposals adopted) during the 1685–1687 Two Martyrs constitutional convention.

In late 1730, the Order of the Holy Lakes announced that, following an investigation, it had found that Karl Battenberg had fraudulently designed a family tree that derived, via his mother, its ancestry from Vali Ri av Silmahamnum, with the intent of buying his family more power and prestige. Following this investigation, the Order removed the Battenberg family from the Almanac of the Holy Lakes. If Karl Battenberg ever entered Hurmu, he would be arrested for fraud.

Estranged from his second son Heinrich since 1720.

Died in 1744. Heinrich and his family pointedly did not attend the funeral. Representatives of the Order of the Holy Lakes also did not attend the funeral, despite invited to do so.
