The Governor of San Lucido is the highest institutional figure of San Lucido, an autonomous region of the Republic of Vegno, located in the north of Keltia. The governor essentially has executive powers over the territory of San Lucido, with Congress holding legislative power; they must however answer to the President of the Republic of Vegno, who is the head of state and commander in chief of the armed forces.
The governor of San Lucido is elected through a single-round presidential election, where whoever obtains the majority of votes obtains the position. Candidates must be Vegnian citizens who have resided in San Lucido for at least five years, and be at least 35 years of age. The election takes place every six years, without term limits, with the governor taking office on 1st day of the following year after the election.
The governor of San Lucido has the task of representing the autonomous territory of San Lucido at a national level and with Vegno, of appointing the members of his cabinet and the managers of the regional agencies, of proposing the regional budget, of promulgating the laws approved by the Congress, to grant pardons and commutations of sentences, and to declare a state of emergency in the event of natural disasters or social crises.
The governor of San Lucido can be removed from office through an impeachment procedure, initiated by Congress with a two-thirds majority of votes, or by the President of the Republic of Vegno, who can remove the Governor of San Lucido at any time for proven reasons.
