The 1724 AN San Lucido Governor elections were the first ever Governor elections of the Autonomous Territory of San Lucido and saw the election of the Governor of San Lucido.
The elections were won, for the first time, by Raphael Bullman, leader and candidate of the Liberty Party, who became the first Governor of San Lucido, who had to form the first Government of the Autonomous Territory of San Lucido, in the nation of Vegno.
Background
Procedure
Legge Cattaneo states that for a person to serve as governor, the individual must be a natural-born citizen of Vegno or San Lucido, be at least 35 years old, and have been a San Lucido resident for at least 5 years. Candidates for the presidency typically seek the nomination of one of the various political parties in San Lucido. Each party develops a method (such as a primary election) to choose the candidate the party deems best suited to run for the position. Primary elections are usually indirect elections where voters cast ballots for a slate of party delegates pledged to a particular candidate. The party's delegates then officially nominate a candidate to run on the party's behalf.
Nominations
The Unity Party, strengthened by its victory in the previous parliamentary elections and with the majority of seats in Congress, presents as its candidate in the elections the governor Raphael Bullman, leader and secretary of the party, who won the elections for the leadership of the party with an important advantage party in 1722 AN. His electoral campaign focused heavily on the democratic and progressive ideology of the country, in agreement and with the support of the President of the Republic of Vegno, Antonio Visciglia.
The other major party of San Lucido, however, the Liberty Party, presents as its main candidate Rosamund Wesley, also leader of the party and victorious in the elections for the leadership of the party in 1722 AN, with a narrow majority over Alexander Larsen, defeated in the third round. The libertarian aims to obtain votes from the country's conservative majority, with a favorable eye on the female population.
Among the minority parties, however, the Justice Party proposes secretary Augustus Rossether as leader and candidate, chosen directly by the party convention, without going through the usual primaries. People's Party and Green Party participate in the elections with their two leading candidates Peter Verburgh and Grisel Gaskin respectively.
