Ethan Tan (born 1998) is a Dauian professional football player who plays as a goalkeeper for Daau Super League club Seragaan United.
A former winner of the Daau national Youth Athlete award at the age of 16, Ethan was selected for a trial with Daau Super League club Seragaan United in early 2015 and was then sent overseas for a trial with a Krasno Elite League club, which was Belaov Treble.
Youth career
Playing with local side Che Caching, Tan excelled in the goalkeeper position as he would stick in goal during street soccer matches and would be known for his fast reflexes and quick feet. He moved to the Seragaan United youth academy in early 2015 following a sucessful trial stint with the club but soon left the club due to him pursuing education. Ethan would then join Polis FC's youth setup in the summer of 2016.
Senior career
Seragaan Insurance FC
Tan signed for Dauian Lower League side Seragaan Insurance FC on an amateur deal as a backup goalkeeper to Azim Bakar. Following Azim's departure in the 2020-21 season, Ethan took up the number 1 spot and made 29 appearances for the club during his time with the Insurance Managers.
Daau Bay United
Ethan would move to the Daau-Bay area to sign with Daau Bay United in the 2021-22 season where he played 23 games for the club and infamously denying Bintang Lukana's title chances during the last game of the season with him saving Emliano Calagri's penalty in the 90+1 minute to tie the game for his club. Ethan would be released following the end of the season due to relegation and financial issues.
UE Sebaston
Tan would go on a 1 year hiatus from professional football as he signed with novice side UE Sebaston in the Basagrande Lower League.
Seragaan United
Ethan returned to professional football, signing with Seragaan United on a two year deal in hopes of returning to the Daau national team someday.
International career
Ethan received his first call up in July 2022 to join the Daau national football team in an overseas training camp in Krasnovlac. He made his unofficial debut in a 2-1 victory against the Krasnovlac Under-19's national team.
Style of Play
Noted as one of the most talented goalkeepers of his generation, Ethan is known for his fast reflexes and high jumps as a goalkeeper. He was singled out by famous goalkeeper Clovis Yang during an interview with Yang stating "Ethan is a very talented young boy, I'd like to coach him sometime in the future if I can" He was also praised by his peers for his work ethic and his humble nature.
