The Sanamati Democratic Party is a break-away political party in Sanama, formed when the revolutionary part of the Sanaman Liberation Front broke away to form the Sanaman Liberation Front (revolutionary) in the build-up to the Sanaman election in 1697. The party had a dual leadership consisting of Muqana Soke and Piter Oreya from 1697 to 1707. The dominant faction within the SDP is social democratic, feminist and ecological. There also exist smaller factions of communists, Diegist-Mallikists and others. The SDP formed the dominant part of the Peoples' Front during the Sanaman Civil War. The party changed name to the current Sanamati Democratic Party at the start of the Sanaman Civil War, when it also took control of the Peoples' Front. During the civil war the party organised the proto-polity the Sanaman Federation of Democratic People's Republics as an umbrella organisation for the various democratic people's republics. This polity was communalist until 1707, when the social democrats gained control of the party following the failed 1707 Sanaman military coup d'état. The party is chaired by Malliki Orea since 9.VIII.1707.
