The Meckelnburgh Professional Soccer League (MPSL; Alexandrian: Ligue professionnelle Meckelmbourgeoise de football; Aspiranto: Mekelnburga Profesia Futbalo-Ligo), branded as Pro-League Soccer, is the professional association football league sanctioned in Meckelnburgh, operated by the Royal Meckelnburgh Soccer Federation. It represents the sport's highest level in the kingdom. The league comprises 24 coed teams across two divisions, 12 in the Premier Division (tier 1) and 12 in the Challenger Division (tier 2).

Pro-League Soccer was founded in 2020 CE as the first sanctioned league for Meckelnish soccer. Unlike most soccer leagues on Micras, the MPSL has a fixed membership of professional, locally owned teams, instead of an association of clubs. The teams are each owned and managed by their local municipalities, except for the Albioch Firebirds and Lunden Cardsharps, funded by the Church of Meckelnburgh and the Queen respectively. Most of the major cities in Meckelnburgh host one team. All teams are organized and subsidized centrally by the Ministry of Culture & Sport, headquartered in Alexandretta.

The MPSL began as the Meckelnburgh United Soccer League, intended to be the unified league of competitive soccer in the kingdom. Following the performance of the Meckelnburgh national football team in the 2021 FMF World Cup, popular interest demanded the Royal Meckelnburgh Soccer Federation expand sanctioned play to amateur teams. Thus, a league comprised of privately owned, amateur clubs was established as the Meckelnburghish National Soccer League (tiers 3-5). The Meckelnburghish United Soccer League was rebranded as Pro-League Soccer to coordinate the expansion.

The season aligns with international competitions, running from September through May (seasons are named after their concluding year). Because of the arctic weather in Meckelnburgh, games played November through March are often indoors, to avoid snow.

Many of the best players from throughout the league are often also members of the , also managed by the Royal Meckelnburgh Soccer Federation.

History

While numerous independent clubs existed intermittently in the history of Meckelnburghish soccer, the current league format began to finalize in 2020 CE. with funding for eight professional teams and two under-21 teams. After attempting multiple formats throughout the 2020 season, the league settled on its present annual season.

Following the popularity of the 2020 season, parliament expanded funding to a two-tier, 24-team league, offering formal leagues to municipalities willing to complement national funding. Players for the expanded league have been sourced from amateur clubs from throughout the kingdom. The U-21 division was also expanded to eight cities, and received its own championship cup.

Seasons

Since the 2021 CE season, the United Soccer League plays a double round-robin series as part of the regular season, where each team from the Premier and Challenger Divisions meats the teams of their divisions twice. From the regular season, the top point winners from the Challenger Division are promoted to the Premier Division, and the bottom two teams from the Premier Division are relegated.

At the end of the season, a single-elimination tournament is played by the top eight teams of the Premier Division. The winner receives the Royal Football Cup.

The U-21 season is similar, with a championship match held at the end between the top point winners from the U-21 Division. The winner receives the Dauphin Cup.
