The Steerswick Army (Cibolan Saxon: Stierschweigisches Heer; Old Steerish: Lu Styrswig) is the land warfare branch of the military of the Grand Duchy of Steerswick.
History
Organisation
The Steerswick Army consists of two armoured cavalry regiments, the Steerswick Guard Hussars and the Southmoorland Dragoons, and two infantry regiments, the Steerswick Infantry Regiment and the Southcape and Southmoorland Infantry Regiment. The four regiments are divided between two brigade headquarters: 12 Brigade at Steerswick and 34 Brigade at Newmoorham.
The two armoured cavalry regiments are organised as combined-arms battalion groups and are equipped with a mix of tanks, self-propelled artillery and gravimetric vehicles.
Unlike the cavalry regiments, the two infantry regiments are purely administrative formations, each being comprised of five operational battalions. As of 1712 AN, the ten infantry battalions each have two rifle companies that rotate between assignments according to a two-year cycle, with one company deploying as mechanised infantry and the other operating locally as a light-role home defence unit.
Eight of the mechanised infantry companies are allocated to one of four mechanised battalion groups as follows:
- those from 2 and 3 Battalions, Steerswick Infantry Regiment, with 23 Mechanised Battalion Group;
- those from 4 and 5 Battalions, Steerswick Infantry Regiment, with 45 Mechanised Battalion Group;
- those from 1 and 2 Battalions, Southcape and Southmoorland Infantry Regiment, with 21 Mechanised Battalion Group;
- those from 4 and 5 Battalions, Southcape and Southmoorland Infantry Regiment, with 54 Mechanised Battalion Group.
The remaining two mechanised infantry companies from 1 Battalion, Steerswick Infantry Regiment, and 3 Battalion, Southcape and Southmoorland Infantry Regiment, serve as local reaction forces in the capital and on the Isle of Wadon respectively.
