Royal Brown tartan
The Royal Brown tartan also known as The Royal tartan is the family tartan of the royal House of Brown, and was also the personal tartan of August Charles II as Monarch of Victoria. Officially, it is worn by the pipers of the Victorian Guards with permission from the monarch.
Design
Designed in 1451 AN by Victoria I, the year after her arrival on Micras and her Coronation. It closely resembles the sett and colours of both the Brown Family tartan of her father, John Brown, and the Royal Stewart tartan of her mother Queen Victoria The Queen Mother.
Use
It is worn by the monarch and several members of the Royal Family but only with the monarch's permission. Along with the Victorian Guards, the only other approved wearer of the Royal Brown Tartan is the King's personal piper.
In 1456, Jock McLeary a farmer from Westden in Abbervale was tried for High Treason when he refused to stop wearing the Royal Tartan by the local magistrate. On 14.VIII.1456, having been taken to Eldeburgh to stand trial, John McLeary, not only became the first Victorian citizen to be tried for High Treason, he also became the first in the land to be hanged for his crimes.
