Theodor Llamaan is an incumbent member of the National Assembly of Klaasiya and former Speaker of the House of Deputies of Northern Klaasiya. In his early political life, Theodor Llamaan joined the Republican Party of Northern Klaasiya as a moderate centrist. Serving as the party's only Speaker of the House of Deputies, he developed a close working relationship with the Republican Governor Umen Saryaan. By the time of the 1693 elections, Llamaan had left the centre-right coalition in favour of the Workers Parties United, a far-left political party operating in Klaasiya and the Empire of Natopia more broadly.

Political career

Early career

Theodor Llamaan became active in local politics in his hometown of Hoffenheim, New Dracoheim, in the early 1650s. Within his homeland, he was seen as a centrist, which many outside of New Dracoheim itself would still recognise as solidly conservative. Llamaan became a conservative Senator for the 3rd District in the original Senate of Klaasiya, later joining the Republican party.

Speaker of the House of Deputies

In the 1681 elections for the House of Deputies, the Republican party maintained its status as the largest party, despite losing 4 of the 291 seats it held before election day. As a popular moderate member of the party, Theodor Llamaan was selected as his party's nominee for the speakership. On 15 Natopuary 1681, he stood on a joint ticket with two Deputy Speakers, Amfela Nedergaard (Democratic Party) and Verka Mezraad (Centre Party). The three were elected by the House with a vote of 617-76, marking the start of his term as Speaker.

During his leadership, the House of Deputies passed a single bill to reduce the Governor's term from 5 to 4 years. Amid opposition from both within his party and majorities in the second and third largest parties in the House, Llamaan's bill was approved on 20 Natopuary 1682 by a vote of 365-332. Due to the intensity of the whipping effort to get the necessary votes to pass the law, Theodor Llamaan permanently damaged many relationships with rank-and-file members of his party, who disfavoured the notion of reducing the term of office of a governor of their own political persuation.

After two years as Speaker, Theodor Llamaan led his party into the 1683 election. Despite barely securing first place, the Republicans lost 36 seats, while the main opposition gained 53. Once the full results were officially certified, Theodor Llamaan announced his decision to stand down as Speaker. He remained a member of the House of Deputies until its term expired in 1685.
