Gnu is a former Norse bailiwick encompassing what is today the island of Ioanna. The capital is the town of Gnu where there was a Nordhær base. Politically, part of Normark from 1681 when it was annexed to Normark, having been Green for decades before, until 1737.
The island was historically called the Isle of Saint Joan and the town of Gnu was known as Montford during its Nova English and Bosworthian periods. The northern part of the island has also belonged to Ashkenatza, where the Ayzstantsye Gnu (Ice Station Wildebeest) base in modern Gnu town (old Montford) is located.
