Work in progress.

The Antyan Feudatory Feud, shortened to Feudatory Feud, was originally a border skirmish and conflict over mining rights between the county of Hondon (part of the Duchy of Kildare) and Duchies of Raynor's Isles and Outer Antya. A short, but brutal military civil war erupted in 1715 AN, which resulted in the county and two duchies east of the Antya River uniting into the Ducal Confederation of Audentior.

Preparations for war

Hon ben Gyoku was, at the end of the Decade of Inharmonious Regrets, more or less banished by Jin San to lessen his influence over national politics and the integration process of Jingdao into Shireroth. Hon, having served as Diwang and as family member, was married to Xu Ya - who inherited the title of Duchess of Outer Antya from her brother Claudius Ya of Nan - who died in a hunting accident in 1713 AN.

This shifted the power balance within the region, with Hondon - with the populous city of Xiacheng - still nominally part of the Duchy of Kildare, but increasingly tied together with the lands east of the Antya River. Their neighbor, Duke Faustus Tullas of Raynor's Isles, was an ambitious man and was both upset and worried. His dreams to slowly undermine the power base of Hon ben Gyoku were shattered. In the hope that the Duke of Kildare, Jin San, would be occupied with matters more pressing, Faustus started harassing minor villages and mining operations along the borders. A number of mutual skirmishes along each other's border happened throughout the winter of 1714 AN.

The death of a Raynorian fisherman at the hand of Hondonese guardsmen at a pub near the border was the last straw. Local militias were mobilized at both sides, while Faustus invaded with a mix of mercenaries and militiamen.

Course of the war

End of the war and aftermath

  • Jin San, both preoccupied with holding his Duchy together and gaining power in Shirekeep, grudgingly accepted the separation of Xiacheng from his feudal holdings. Later that year, he would also lose his Dalmacijan territories to a new emerging Dalmacijan Thanedom.
  • With Faustus defeated, Hon ben Gyoku called a meeting between the remaining feudal lords: recognizing the increasing return of feudal character of government, and wanting to avoid petty wars (and henceforth a military intervention from the imperial government), the nobility accepted the idea of a confederation of feudal territories east of the Antya River. The Ducal Confederation of Audentior was proclaimed, with the nobility petitioning the Kaiseress to disband Outer Antya and Raynor's Isles as Duchies, and recognizing the establishment of Audentior.
