As of 1712 AN, the ten infantry battalions each have two rifle companies that rotate between assignments according to a two-year cycle, with one company deploying as mechanised infantry and the other operating locally as a light-role home defence unit.
Eight of the mechanised infantry companies are allocated to one of four mechanised battalion groups as follows:
- those from 2 and 3 Battalions, Steerswick Infantry Regiment, with 23 Mechanised Battalion Group;
- those from 4 and 5 Battalions, Steerswick Infantry Regiment, with 45 Mechanised Battalion Group;
- those from 1 and 2 Battalions, Southcape and Southmoorland Infantry Regiment, with 21 Mechanised Battalion Group;
- those from 4 and 5 Battalions, Southcape and Southmoorland Infantry Regiment, with 54 Mechanised Battalion Group.
The remaining two mechanised infantry companies from 1 Battalion, Steerswick Infantry Regiment, and 3 Battalion, Southcape and Southmoorland Infantry Regiment, serve as local reaction forces in the capital and on the Isle of Wadon respectively.
