The Durge were an alien race who, many thousands of years ago, enslaved the ancient people of whom Normark descend from. Experimenting with the relatively primitive humans, they instilled them with exceptional longevity, superior physical strength and mental acuity. They were eventually driven off by their own creations, the race that became known as the Norse. Today, the descendants of these people now inhabit Normark, Ostland, Elwynn and, to a small degree, Zeed.
