The Federation Games (also known as the "Federal Games") is a proposed national multi-sport event that is being proposed by a group of businesses and non-profit organizations in the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie. Proposed by the Civic Council for Sport and Culture, the event is designed to showcase the athletic talents of the people of the Federation, promote national pride and unity, and promote public participation and involvement in national sports.
Proposal
The idea for the Federation Games originated with a group of business leaders who were looking for ways to improve the economy in the wake of the Recession of 1709, boost morale in the country, and develop a thriving autochthonous sports industry and traditions. The idea first arose in 1702 AN, when New Alexandrian billionaire Henry Barreau first wrote an op-ed in the Times of Alduria-Wechua proposing the idea, arguing that it had great potential to bring the Federation closer together. The op-ed gathered so much public attention at the time that several other business and civic leaders began to jump on the idea, leading to the formation of the political pressure group Civic Council for Sport and Culture.
The key issues behind financing challenges are estimated high costs for the event, potential lack of sponsorship and advertising revenue, and attracting talent to participate. Outside of the Nouvelle Alexandrie Alduria and Wechua Nation, other Regions currently do not have their own developed sports associations, much less having a federal one to help orchestrate national-level sports events. Despite popular support for the idea of the Federation Games, the proposal has run into issues securing financing in the private sector. The event would require significant investment in order to be successful, and so far, the organizers have been unable to secure the necessary funding.
The proposal for the Federation Games includes a range of different sporting events, including track and field, swimming, basketball, baseball, and other sports. The event would be held every four years and similar to the Micras Games.
