To fill in all of the team slots at the World Championships, the MHL organises qualifiers to narrow down nations to the allocated slots numbers. At the 2013 World Championships, all 6 nations with [[Micras Hockey League]] domestic teams automatically qualified, leaving 10 spots up for grabs. All independent nations on Micras, along with some dependencies and autonomous regions, will compete in the qualifiers. If a nation or region leaves Micras during the qualifiers, they are allowed to complete their group, but they forfeit 10 points.
