The Rhodondra-class amphibious assault ship is a class of amphibious assault ship developed and built by Port Niyi Shipyards in Sanama and scheduled to enter service in the Federal Navy of Sanama in 1681. The class was designed to provide Sanama with a troop landing capability combined with a limited aircraft carrier asset.
Each ship is capable of hosting 1,894 personnel of the Corps of Navy Marines; almost the full strength of a Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). A Rhodondra-class vessel can transport up to 2,860 m2 of cargo, and another 1,858 m2 is allocated for the MEU's vehicles, which typically consists of five main battle tanks, up to 25 amphibious assault vehicles, eight 155 mm towed howitzers, 68 trucks, and up to 12 other support vehicles. A 6 track internal monorail system as well as 6 5,400 kg internal elevators are used to shift cargo from the cargo holds to landing craft in the well deck.
Each Rhodondra-class ship has a hospital with 64 patient beds and six operating rooms. An additional 536 beds can be set up in an "Overflow Casualty Ward" as needed.
Since 1703 Sanama classifies its remaining three Rhodondra-class ships as "light aircraft carriers".
