He was well known for his love for gardening as he spent several hours each day on taking care of the small plants that he tried to grow in the bunker.
His horticultural achievements were subsequently immortalised in the Kalgachi film, Silent Rustling. He was also portrayed in the Senyan musical The Death of Liberty.
