Obedience Machine

The Obedience Machine is a high-tech computer which uses news reports and other electronic means to spy on the Jingdaoese population. During the reign of the Daishi Emperor, places with too much danger of revolting or impure ideas were destroyed to prevent the spread of dangerous thoughts. The Machine was also responsible for the nuclear destruction of many large cities in 1631.

After the Obedience Destruction, the machine ran out of ammunition but it was not shut down and remains part of the intelligence operations of the Tegong. During the reign of the Sheng Emperor, the Obedience Machine gained access to the information supplied by the General Survey into the Citizenry's Physical, Religious, Political and Mental Health, also known as the Form. The Obedience Machine now selects both communities and individuals who need attention from the imperial government.
