St Sherrith

St Sherrith, officially Cape Saint Sherrith and Graven Island (Batavian: Kaap Sint-Sherrith en Graveneiland), is a municipality in Batavia. Previously part of Natopia (1632–1665) and Shireroth, its people are largely Batavian in language and culture, with some Natopian aspects and religious practices. The territory consists of the continental Cape Saint Sherrith and the island south east of Cape Saint Sherrith named Graven Island (Graveneiland, "earls' island").

The headland Cape Saint Sherrith, now more commonly known as Saint Sherrith, is a booming city with a mix of Natopian, Batavian and Shirerithian culture.

Some 12,027 people live in the municipality.

History of the name

A Natopian ship, with a large shipment of goods, heading for Leng, from Hempton Bay, found itself a few days ago in a terrible storm as it approached the Benacian continent.

The crew, faithful Bovics, took their refuge to the Almighty, and by divine guidance they found refuge in a small body of water sheltered by a great headland.

That very day's liturgical reading was the Story of the False Cow from the Bovic holy scriptures, where Saints Sherrith, Nathaniel and Joelle exposed heresy in the Dairy Hall of Butter Cow City.

In honour of that, the crew felt that it would be nothing but heresy not to name the headland after these disciples. The captain prayed, and saw an apparition of Saint Sherrith walking on the headland, with a staff pointing to a great island in the south-east. That, for them, was a confirmation of the name. Since then, the name referred to the headland and later to the city that grew up there.
