Markus Nielsen GOsH is a Craitish manager who manages Daau Super League side Daas City FC.

He is known for his extreme counter-attacking style when he was managing Daau Bay United.

Managerial Career

Daau Bay United

2019-20 Season

Markus would be appointed as Daau Bay United's head coach for the 2019-20 season to lead them to the top flight. He would however fall short of promotion by losing 3-2 on the last day to Daau United II. Finishing 3rd that season.

2020-21 Season

Markus took a different approach in his 2nd season in Dauian football, leading Daau Bay United to the top flight of Dauian football.

He would win his first-ever title in his managerial career with Daau Bay United winning the Daau Premier League.

2021-22 Season

Due to the lack of funding and a huge amount of players leaving, Daau Bay United was unable to secure a spot in the Daau Super League that season and was relegated.

As a result, Markus' contract wasn't extended and was released on the 1st of August 2022.

Daau national team

Markus would be hired as the national team's manager due to interim Simei Zuzu's medical concerns and health issues. He would lose his first intermicronational to Phinbella by 2-0 but still celebrated success as they managed to keep most of the shots at bay.

Nielsen's first-ever intermicronational victory was against Mataba on the 9th of November 2022 in which Daau won 2-0 away from home. Markus picked up his third intermicronational victory over Florian Eura in a 3-0 win. Nielsen left his position as national football team manager due to reasons regarding his family and lifestyle. His contract was mutually terminated on the 31st of March 2023 as a result.

Markus was replaced by Shahlid Shah as interim.

Daas City FC

Markus was named as head coach for DSL side Daas City during September 2023 as a replacement for Philippe Rodriguez as he was redesignated as the club's new technical director. Nielsen named Alexis Mikel as his assistant manager for the upcoming season. On his maiden season with a mid-age side, Markus guided Daas City to an unbeaten run in the Daau Super League, with starlet Michael Mendonca named as defender of the season following his standout performances. 58 point haul over 22 unbeaten games is still the record holder for most matches unbeaten and the top points gained in one season. Markus was given a 3 year extension following his DSL victory and a treble swoop, claiming the SuperShield, FA Cup and the Daau Youth Cup. Nielsen became the first foreign manager to win the DSL in his maiden season aswell.

Nielsen's advanced low-block system allowed Daas City to soak up possesion quickly and find a break to counter opposition advances. His further tactical advancement saw the team go on a 6 match unbeaten run at the start of the 2024–25 season. Nielsen was redesignated as the club's new technical director due to Philippe's departure to DAFA. Gavin Bee would replace him as the new first team head coach signed from Thampines Rovers. As technical director, Nielsen recommended multiple signings and oversaw the sale of Michael Mendonca, a staple player in his former system.

However following a slump in their season and an eventual trophyless 2024–25 season, Nielsen was brought back as the head coach for the 2025–26 season, with Bee redesignated as a reserve manager.

Managerial style of play

Formation

Markus uses a 3-5-2 formation usually for the Daau national team as seen in most of his matches and switches to a 4-3-3 as his secondary formation.

Tactical style

Nielsen was hailed "master of counterattacks" as, during his time in Daau Bay United, 93% of the counterattacks from them resulted in goals or a shot on target and therefore proved his style successful. He would continue to uphold this style while managing Daau and brought Daau to their first-ever victory against Mataba.

Personal life

Markus is married to Joanna Schinenner, a famous Dauian TV presenter. They have 2 children, Kai Nielsen and Ada Nielsen, both play football for their respective academies. Kai was born in 2007 whilst Ada was born in 2010. Markus' cousin, 27 year old Jespe Nielsen is also a professional footballer for Daau League side Warriors SC.
