The Marxist People's Republic of New Burkland is a simulationist micronation founded by Rachel Burklandssen, the former President of Burkland. Despite Burklandssen no longer being committed to Marxism, New Burkland serves to reenact the former micronation. New Burkland plans to make territorial claims in Micras after 30 days of activity, in accordance with the MCS rules. Despite not having any territorial claims yet, in-story, it is divided into the autonomous socialist republics of New North Burkland and New South Burkland and the independent city of New Bundeshauptstadt. This is inspired by the autonomous socialist republics that existed in Burkland. The most-populous city is New Storej City in New North Burkland.

History

Dropouts' Rebellion

In a nation long lost to history, there was a demographic crisis. The nation had a high birth rate, and compulsory school attendance (without exceptions for homeschooling) until 21 or until a person graduated high school. Despite this, 56% of high school students dropped out due to high standards for graduation, and due to a combination of laws and the influences of guilds, high school dropouts had virtually-nonexistent employment opportunities. Even those who had a high school diploma were regulated to low-paying menial jobs without any opportunities for advancement. Only the 7% of the population with a bachelor's degree or higher had an opportunity to advance, and even then, it wasn't guaranteed.

Rebellion was inevitable. The first group to rebel was the Autistic Depathologization and Liberation Party. Previously a fringe party, they advocated against the medical model of autism, arguing that being autistic was not a disorder or disease but rather an alternative way of being to be accepted and accommodated. While the high school dropout rate among the general population was 56%, it was 94.7% for autistic people. Only 0.3% of autistic people had a bachelor's degree, and only 5 (too small to calculate a percentage) autistic people had a master's degree. They demanded automatic graduation for all people who completed 12th grade; allowing virtual schooling; lowering the school-leaving age to 16, and the ban on all ABA/autistic conversion therapy in K-12 schools.

The governing authorities responded by designating the Autistic Depathologization and Liberation Party a terrorist group, despite the party having never committed any offenses against people or property. Feeling like they had nothing to lose, the ADLP decided to barricade the roads the following morning to prevent government officials from commuting to work, forcing a government shutdown. The governing authorities responded by murdering exactly half of the protesters to send a warning. The public, however, supported the ADLP. However, non-autistic supporters of the rebellion didn't want to join the ADLP. Luckily for them, the writings of Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Vladimir Lenin, and the President of Burkland, Rachel Burklandssen were gaining popularity with the populace.

On July 9, 2021, the 10th anniversary of the foundation of Burkland, the Communist Party of New Burkland was founded as a Marxist–Leninist–Burklandssenist party that demanded the replacement of the old regime with a new state called New Burkland. The Communist Party and the ADLP joined forces as the People's Democratic Front and launched an armed rebellion against the regime. However, despite having popular support, they were facing a powerful military. The military was the only good-paying job available to high school graduates without a bachelor's degree or higher. Indeed, 12% of the 21+ population was in the military. They won the war against the People's Democratic Front handily. All members of the People's Democratic Front—and the Capitalist Party of New Burkland, which represented college-educated supporters of the rebellion—were expelled, causing the New Burklandi diaspora.

Great Expulsion

The new homeland of the New Burklandi diaspora was even more turbulent. Originally, the new homeland was a liberal democratic state ran by the Labor Party. However, due to extreme pasokification, the Labor Party lost 75% of its voters to the National Rebirth Party, a neo-fascist party. The National Rebirth Party was originally limited in what it could do due to being in a coalition government with the Conservative Party. The National Rebirth Party was unable to get an outright majority, but they wanted to get rid of the Conservative Party and indeed all other political parties to establish their desired neo-fascist state. They decided to attack the new New Burklandi diaspora, as well as the country's already-existing Black and Jewish minorities. Eventually, the majority of voters wanted New Burklandi, Jewish, and Black people deported from the country. In response to voter demand, both the Labor Party and the Conservative Party decided to endorse the deportation of those groups from society.

The decision of the Labor Party to endorse deportation divided the left. The Green Party decided to break all coalition ties with the Labor Party, saying that some things were inherently immoral and not worth compromising. The Labor Party responded by pointing out that if they didn't endorse it, they'd lose elections to right-leaning parties that would. Black and Jewish voters were generally Labor voters, and Black and Jewish members of the Labor Party left and formed the Social Democratic Party. Meanwhile, Green Party supporters, Black people, and Jewish people were starting to identify as New Burklandi. The Capitalist Party of New Burkland appealed to Conservative Party supporters who disapproved of deportation, and the People's Democratic Front decided to incorporate the Social Democratic Party and the Green Party as member parties.

However, this unity in persecution didn't help them avoid their fate. The National Heritage Party left the governing coalition it led, and snap elections were called. Despite the endorsement of deportation by both the Labor Party and the Conservative Party, the National Heritage Party won an outright majority. However, there were significant reports of voter fraud, especially in areas where the PDF or the Capitalist Party was polling well. With their majority government, they passed the Deportation Act 2022. They also passed the One Nation, One Party Act 2022, which banned all political parties except for the National Heritage Party. Nevertheless, the Conservative Party and the Labor Party still refused to join forces with New Burklandis, launching a revolution for "the true people" against the NHP government.

New Burklandi Declaration of Independence

After a period of wandering, the New Burklandi people found a land where they could live in peace. There were only 20 natives in the new territory, and they peacefully accepted the rule of the People's Democratic Front. 19 of the natives joined the New Burklandi Greens, whereas one joined the Communist Party. After intense negotiations, the People's Democratic Front unanimously passed the New Burklandi Declaration of Independence. Immediately afterwards, the Capitalist Party passed Capitalist Party of New Burkland Resolution #10, which consented to the New Burklandi Declaration of Independence.

The New Burklandi Declaration of Independence established the Constitutional Convention of New Burkland, including representatives from all four PDF parties and from the Capitalist Party. After even more intense negotiations, the Constitution of New Burkland was passed by the Constitutional Convention. As per the Constitution, the Constitutional Convention was replaced by its legal successor, the Congress of New Burkland. All PDF representatives voted to approve the Constitution, whereas all Capitalist Party representatives abstained as the Constitution guaranteed a PDF monopoly over the Congress.

True Green Rebellion

After the foundation of New Burkland, some members of the New Burklandi Greens felt like they had been cheated as the political coalition they were a part of was guaranteed a supermajority no matter what, which they felt violated their democratic principles. Green representatives who voted to approve the Constitution of New Burkland said that they were pressured by the Communist PDF whip—who was also the Attorney General of New Burkland—who used unethical methods to ensure compliance, such as threatening indictments against dissident PDF representatives on corruption charges. He was alleged to have said, "If there was no corruption [on the behalf of a dissident PDF representative], we'll invent evidence anyway."
