History
Originally established in 627 WG, the region of Tanah-Baru  was once the proud home of the capital of the Federal Republic of Los Bay Petros, one of a handful of nations which came to dominate Southern Keltia during that region's golden age, which spanned from roughly 600 WG until 716 WGToday, over one-hundred years after the fall of Los Bay Petros, the swamp-covered region of Tanah-Baru is primarily home to a number of communities of Petrosian and Interlandian pirates and fisherman who largely reject and resent the operations of the Keltian Drilling and Exploration Agency, which extracts and exports natural gas from the region, on behalf of New Zimian investors.  Conflict between the company and the region's inhabitants is not uncommon, though the government of Passio-Corum has adopted measures to try to provide representation for those who make their home in the region.
Originally established in 23.98 PSSC, the region of Tanah-Baru  was once the proud home of the capital of the Federal Republic of Los Bay Petros, one of a handful of nations which came to dominate Southern Keltia during that region's golden age, which spanned from roughly 22.95 until 27.38Following the collapse of Los Bay Petros, the swamp-covered region of Tanah-Baru gave rise to a number of communities of the descendants of Petrosian and Interlandian pirates and fisherman who over time have came to accept and embrace the influence of the Keltian Drilling and Exploration Agency, which extracted and exported natural gas from the region, and of other companies such as the Cherusken Fishing Company, which operates in the far north.  Conflict between the company and the region's inhabitants was nevertheless not uncommon.  In the the coastal, rural regions of southern Tanah-Baru, Pallisican settlements were occasionally raided by warriors from the indigenous Caria Tribe, whose members were infamous for subsisting on a diet which consisted mostly of the rotten meat of the corpses of recently dead humans and animals which littered the wetlands.  As Pallisican, and subsequently Bassarid influence expanded, the region's borders extended first to the shores of Lake Cherusken, eastwards and south along the coastlines formerly claimed by the south Keltian nation of Interland, and finally westwards into the South Cherusken Highlands, where resistance fighters waged a prolonged conflict against peacekeepers representing the New Zimian War League, which sought to protect merchant caravans and settlers seeking to establish new lives in the mountainous region.  In the mid-40's PSSC the Dependency's borders were expanded for the last time, to include the ancient Pallisican settlement of Fort Carol, a city established by the government of the Republic of Passas in 19.09 PSSC.  With the annexation of Fort Carol, the Dependency reached its maximum extent, providing overland trade routes between the Sea of Storms, the Captive Sea, and Lake Cherusken.  These trade routes would prove vital in ensuring the long-term success, vitality, and viability of Bassarid interests in south Keltia, and indeed the region encompassing the northern Sea of Storms.

In addition to the local communities of Petrosian and Interlandlian pirates, the swamps of Tanah-Baru are known to be the home of a mystical and savage race of people who subsist by scavenging off the corpses of dead animals.
The Dependency of Tanah-Baru can be subdivided into four distinct geographic regions: the Southern Dependency, which lies to the south of the Southern Cherusken Highlands, along the northern coast of the Sea of Storms, the Highland Dependency, the vast mountainous region which extends across the region's non-coastal areas, the Western Dependency, the coastal plain region which was annexed in the 40.60's PSSC, and the Northern Dependency, which extends from the foothills of the South Cherusken Highlands to the southern shores of Lake Cherusken.  Major cities in the Southern Cherusken Highlands include the capital of the Dependency, Sóekänogru, and Port Ataturk.  For its part, the city of Sóekänogru is regarded as the geographic center of the Haifo-Pallisican Imperial Trade Union.  This is based upon the fact that the city lies very near to the intersection of the direct paths connecting Bratahaßanía to Arcadia, and Corasunt to Rouge.  In the Highland Dependency one finds the highly contested, autonomous city of Kota Baru, which on 91/02/42 PSSC, was granted temporary independence from both the Dependency of Tanah-Baru and the New Zimian Outer Realms after a period of protracted civil war in the region. The Western Dependency is dominated by the ancient Passasian settlement of Fort Carol, which today is the largest trading hub in the eastern Captive Sea region.  The Northern Dependency is home to several major cities, most notable among them being Julíußträt, the largest city found on the shores of Lake Cherusken.  These four regions combine to form what is among the most significant and wealthiest trade route in southern Keltia.

Transportation
Due to the region's mountainous terrain and harsh tropical climate, transportation in the Dependency of Tanah-Baru is limited.  With this said, the most common mode of transportation in the region is rail.  Railways in the region are maintained by the West-Trinity Railway Corporation.
Military Installations
The Dependency of Tanah-Baru is home to two military bases.  The first of these is Fort Pongo, located in the region's central highlands.  The second is Fort Belcourt, located in the tropical southeastern reaches of the region.

Protected Areas
While there are no formal protected areas in the Dependency of Tanah-Baru, the government maintains strict restrictions against settling in the coastal region of southern Graniczna.

History

The Dependency of Tanah-Baru extends across Southern Keltia, providing land routes that the Sea of Storms, the Captive Sea, and Lake Cherusken.

Originally established in 23.98 PSSC, the region of Tanah-Baru was once the proud home of the capital of the Federal Republic of Los Bay Petros, one of a handful of nations which came to dominate Southern Keltia during that region's golden age, which spanned from roughly 22.95 until 27.38. Following the collapse of Los Bay Petros, the swamp-covered region of Tanah-Baru gave rise to a number of communities of the descendants of Petrosian and Interlandian pirates and fisherman who over time have came to accept and embrace the influence of the Keltian Drilling and Exploration Agency, which extracted and exported natural gas from the region, and of other companies such as the Cherusken Fishing Company, which operates in the far north.
