The Order of the Red Hand is a non-hereditary civil and military order established to recognise individuals who have served the interests of the Benacian Union as well as to bestow recognition upon the heads of state of allied and friendly nations.
Symbolism
The Red Hand relates to the myth of the Benac, the first settler of Benacia, from whence the name derives, who stained his hands with the blood of myriad beasts and savage inhuman monsters, committing a meritorious slaughter which cleared the land for human colonisation. The legend of the Benac resonates with the Humanist values of the Benacian Union, making it accordingly feature prominently in the iconography of the organisation.
