The government is an absolute monarchy, but with day-to-day legislative power devolved to the General Assembly, a collection of men and women elected mostly from the country's powerful warrior class. Three prerequisites exist for serving: military service (current or prior), continual physical residence in the Realm (ten years before, during, and ten years after the term), and wealth (property and ownership of a dragon, which were very expensive creatures to house, feed, and maintain). Despite these requirements being simple enough to fulfill, they are extremely hard to keep up with, especially since Members of the Assembly (MA's) are forbidden from holding any employment during their terms. | |||
