Thomas de la Rochelle was a member and elder of the Aemilian chapter of the Order of the Holy Lakes. During the 1751 military coup in the Confoederatio Aemilia a warrant for his arrest was issued as he was suspected of being part of a conspiracy to commit treason against the people of the Lanzerwald, he fled to Bein in Etzeland as he was afraid that a trial would be unfair. After a trial in absentia he was found not guilty, he died in 1753 still in exile.
