Y Ø B-12 (b. 1665 in Konungsheim) is a Norse (Elwynnese) socialite, businesswoman, and celebrity. The daughter of fishing magnate Elsa Takin and her husband, the neo-folk singer Martin Dust, Y Ø B-12 rose to fame at her very birth due to the unusual name her parents gave her. Y Ø B-12 is the founder and manager of Normark's and, indeed, Elwynn's largest record company, Grand Dust Takin (named after her parents). Thanks to her parents' money, she managed to buy up most competitors and more or less monopolize the music industry in Normark. Since 1693, she resides in Hurmu as a resident foreigner.

Name

It was said that Y symbolised her as stretching out her arms to the sky, Ø, meaning island in a Norse spelling inspired by Army Crandish (standard Norse øy), was meant to symbolise how no one is really an island, yet all are alone, one way or another. Finally, B-12 was given her in honour of the vitamin with a key role in the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system, most commonly found in fish.

At the time of her birth, Norse authorities said that the name would be illegal under Norse law, stating that while Ø might be acceptable as it is found in the dictionary, neither Y nor B-12 would be acceptable. B-12 was intended to be the girl's surname, and Norse authorities resisted. As such, authorities registered her name as Yrse Ø Betolv Takin. In response Elsa Takin locked out all workers from her fishing business Norsk Fisk unless the child's name could be registered as intended. After a few months of this type of industrial action, and counter-actions from unions in rare state-sympathetic actions, led to a projected -5% GDP growth rate for Normark, the Norse government approved a change in the law. After this point, a new, "corrected" birth certificate was issued for Y Ø B-12.
