The Volhyrian Kossar Brigade (VKB), originally formed from the remnants of various Yehudi-Siyachi fighting groups who were re-mobilised under Imperial supervision in order to secure the frontiers against smugglers and border raiders, as well as to call in air strikes on unwanted incursions of megafauna.
The VKB is notorious for combining Imperial weaponry, the semblance of Ashkenatzim ranks and uniforms, and an attitude towards the personal property and bodily integrity of others that is entirely in keeping with the kossar tradition.
Although much diminished since Shirerithian times, the VKB was permitted to continue in operation by the Unified Governorates and later the Benacian Union as a comparatively small force of local scouts whose local knowledge was indispensable for garrison commanders from the Black Legions and the Land Forces of the Benacian Union assigned to the region. The example set by the VKB would later be emulated by the BUDF which raised a number of kossar regiments for frontier patrol duties.
