Taurasi is the fourth most populated city in Vegno, with a population of 373 315 residents. It's located in the Region of Pelago, of which it is the capital, in the northern area of the Vegnese territory.

History

The original core of the city was founded by the Republic of Freeland and then grew up with independent governments and became, together with Sancrus, one of the most important port centers in the northern area of Apollonia, overlooking almost directly on the Northern Sea and thus becoming an almost obligatory stop on trips from the North of Apollonia to the North of Keltia.

1707 Vegno Annexation Referendum

After the declaration of independence of Vegno in 1705 AN, the city of Taurasi, together with others in the internal territories, declared the will to be annexed to the new Vegnese republic. His request, however, was not accepted by the leaders of the Republic, for reasons of a political nature, given the few relations that then occurred between Vegno and the almost bordering territories of Angsax and Lac Glacei.

After the treaties of 1707 between Vegno, Lac Glacei and Angsax, the requests of Taurasi were accepted through the implementation of the 1707 Vegno Annexation Referendum, where in the city of Taurasi the will to be annexed to the Republic of Vegno won with clear difference, thus officially becoming part of Vegno.

Administration

Economy

Taurasi agriculture has increased its specialisation pattern in high-quality products (flowers, wine, olive oil) and has thus managed to maintain the gross value-added per worker at a level much higher than the national average. The value of flower production represents over 75% of the agriculture sector turnover, followed by animal farming (11.2%) and vegetable growing (6.4%).

Steel, once a major industry during the booming 1693 and 1699, as Taurasi moved away from the heavy industry to pursue more technologically advanced and less polluting productions. So the Taurasi industry has turned towards a widely diversified range of high-quality and high-tech products (food, shipbuilding, electrical engineering and electronics, petrochemicals, aerospace etc.). Nonetheless, the regions still maintains a flourishing shipbuilding sector (yacht construction and maintenance, cruise liner building, military shipyards)
