The Shomrim (Yehudi: "Watchers"), are ad hoc locally raised militias formed from amongst the priestly Kohanim caste of the Siyachers in the Unified Governorates of Benacia. Members of the Shomrim must be of a reputable Levite family, in the lineage of Levi, be observant of the Yehudi faith and registered at temple for that purpose, male, employed and married. Where circumstances permit a sufficient congregation of Levites to form a Shomrim within their bailiwick of residence, it must serve the Beth Din of that locale with the proviso that its existence must be notified to the Bailiff's court.

Duties

The watchers are tasked with the enforcement of the religious law of the Yehudim amongst the faithful, through vigilance and intervention. In addition to their supervisory role amongst their co-religionists, the Shomrim are further under an obligation to police the gentiles of their community in accordance with the Union Covenant. As such they may, in times of emergency or at the command of authority, be compelled to perform such duties as the civil authority, be it the bailiffs or the agents of the Benacian Censorate, may from time to time require.
