The Santander Defensive Line is a major military fortification system along the northern border of the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie, stretching approximately 1,171.56 km (727.97 mi) across the Region of Santander's border with The Green. Constructed between 1710 AN and 1725 AN, it represents one of the most sophisticated border defense systems on the continent of Keltia.
History
The conceptualization of the Santander Defensive Line began after the territorial expansions in Keltia came to a close and the Region of Santander was fully settled. It was then that the Federation's military leadership identified critical vulnerabilities along the northern frontier. Following several high-profile incursions by non-state actors from The Green, the Council of State approved the project in V.1709 AN.
Construction commenced in III.1710 AN under the supervision of the Department of Defense and the Federal Corps of Engineers. The project was initially scheduled for completion within five years, but budgetary constraints and major engineering challenges extended the timeline to fifteen years, with final completion in IX.1725 AN.
