Regional Governor of the Islas de la Libertad
The Regional Governor of Islas de la Libertad is the chief executive of the Region of Islas de la Libertad within the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie. The Governor is responsible for the administration of regional government, implementation of laws passed by the Islas de la Libertad Assembly, and representation of Libertadeño interests within the federal system. The office was established upon Islas de la Libertad's admission to the Federation in 1691 AN. The Governor is elected by popular vote to a five-year term and may seek re-election. With approximately 6.4 million inhabitants spread across a tropical archipelago, Islas de la Libertad is among the smaller Regions in population but holds significant economic importance due to its NAX€2.8 billion tourism industry, including the famous island-hopping cruises that attract visitors from across Micras.
The current Regional Governor is Jorge Castellanos of the Federal Consensus Party. A former television journalist, Castellanos won the 1749 gubernatorial election in a narrow victory over Federal Humanist Party candidate Ricardo Silva.
