Political parties of Anglien do not exist as formal organizations. Political life in the Free Duchy of Anglien has been conducted without parties since independence in 1754 AN: the Diet of Anglien under the Charter of Anglien sits without them, its members drawn from bailiwick community assemblies and ducal appointment and organized only into loose tendencies. The permanent Constitution of Anglien, adopted by the Constitutional Diet in II.1759 AN and ratified at the national referendum of 7.VII.1759 AN, establishes a framework for the registration and public funding of electoral leagues. The named tendencies of the transitional chamber are expected to formalize as registered leagues under that framework, ahead of the general election expected in XII.1759 AN under the Constitution's Schedule of Transition.

Four territorial tendencies are in press and Diet usage, alongside the caucuses of the reserved minority seats. The metropolitan, eastern, and island tendencies, with the reserved caucuses, sustain the governing alignment around Transitional Prime Minister Eduard Vogt; the interior tendency, te Landbond, is the chamber's consistent opposition. A federation of cooperative and mutual-aid societies, te Verbond, operates across the tendencies without seeking seats of its own.

The coming framework is shaped by the duchy's recent history. The registration regime carries militant-democracy provisions that bar any association continuous with the Nü Krantisk Rapskaff or its program, carrying the proscription enacted by the National Recovery Act of 22.XII.1756 AN into the permanent order, and the Constitutional Court it establishes holds the power to refuse or withdraw registration. The accountability politics of the transitional period, the wind-down of the CATO presence concluding with the constitutional process, and the unresolved questions of the duchy's permanent monetary and security arrangements form the principal lines of division among the tendencies.
