Pavón is the northeastern-most state of Anahuaco. The state is famous for its long coastline along Taylor Way, with a combination of stunning cliffs and sandy beaches. While the coastal areas are temperate, the state's interior is dominated by deserts and the Sierra del Sur mountain range.

The state capital, San Miguel el Grande, stands in one of the more arid areas of the state, with water shortages leading to demands for the capital to be relocated to the coastal city of Aldama. Despite this, state authorities insist that the historic capital of the state will not be moved.

History

The state's long coastline means that the area has always been open to the world, with a long history of trade and settlement.

Within the context of the history of Anahuaco as an empire, the state is best known as the landing place for many of the migrants and mercenaries from former Nova England. These individuals were pivotal to the establishment of the empire, and many of their arms arrived through the port at Aldama.

The state's position on Taylor Bay, a sheltered and easily navigable body of water, means that the area has a longstanding seafaring tradition. While Anahuaco does not have a significant navy, the majority of the sailors from within the fleet originate from Pavón.

Since the end of the of the civil war, the western, desert area of Pavón have suffered from Republicano insurgency. While the state is largely safe, violence periodically spills over from neighbouring Granaditas and the border areas.

Government

In common with all the states of Anahuaco, Pavón State directly elects a state legislature using a proportional voting system, with universal suffrage for citizens over the age of 16.

The head of the state government is a governor appointed by the Emperor. The current Governor of Pavón is Diego Barrera Concha.

Geography

The state of Pavón borders Taylor Bay to the east, The Green to the north, Granaditas to the west and Estado de Anahuaco to the south.

The state's climate is a combination of coastal, desert and mountainous, with the north reaches of the Sierra del Sur mountain range dictating the climatic conditions.
