Operation Purple Shroud was a reprisal campaign commenced in IX.1718 AN, against the leadership cadres of the Confederacy of the Dispossessed, as well as against their families and clan hierarchies, superseding previous efforts to capture the leadership figures associated with the assassination of the Basileus of Constancia and the King of Nouvelle Alexandrie in the 1718 Condor shoot-down incident.

Background

Operation Purple Shroud was launched in response to the ongoing conflicts with the Confederacy of the Dispossessed, specifically the Wars of the Disinherited and the Corsair Wars. The attack on Condor One during Operation Purple Splendor, which resulted in the deaths of King Manco Capac I and Basileus Giakoumis, further escalated tensions between the Raspur Pact and the Confederacy.

Execution

The operation was a joint effort by the Raspur Pact forces, with the primary objective of eliminating key leaders of the Confederacy of the Dispossessed, including the notorious figure known as "The Gunsmith." The operation focused on southeastern Keltia, where many of the Confederacy's leaders were believed to be hiding.

Outcome

The Raspur Pact forces successfully killed several key leaders of the Confederacy, including The Gunsmith and other high-ranking operatives responsible for the shootdown of Condor One. The successful operation is expected to have a significant impact on the Confederacy's operations in the region, hampering their ability to coordinate further attacks and potentially leading to a power vacuum within the organization. Analysts believe that the elimination of these key figures will disrupt the Confederacy's command structure and could potentially lead to infighting among the remaining leaders as they jockey for power.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Raspur Pact praised the professionalism and bravery of the special forces units involved in the operation, stating that their actions had dealt a significant blow to the Confederacy of the Dispossessed and avenged the tragic deaths of the two leaders lost in the Condor One incident.

Aftermath

While the elimination of these key figures is a major victory for the Raspur Pact forces, the fight against the Confederacy of the Dispossessed is far from over. The ongoing Wars of the Disinherited and the Corsair Wars continue to pose a significant threat to regional stability, and the remaining leaders of the Confederacy, including the ruthless and cunning Red Admiral and Aida the Avenger, remain at large.

The fall of the Bassarid Empire, celebrated in several Raspur Pact countries as V-B Day, and the slayings of the Gunsmith and associates three days later, was used as an opportunity to mark the defeat and downfall of a major part of leadership of the Dispossessed, who had arisen from the ranks of the Bassarids after all, with suitable ceremonies.

As per the stated intention of the former administration of Felipe de Almagro, the bodies of the Gunsmith and his other accomplices were laid before the mausoleum of the late King in Parap on 20.VI.1719, alongside the live captives who were forced to kneel for the whole duration of the day and night in postures of supplication. This ritual of humiliation coincided with a parade through the streets of Cardenas of shackled members of the Dispossessed, including rank and file fighters and their kin, some of whom were seen to be shockingly young. A parade of captured vehicles and war banners followed.
