Nordhafen

Nordhafen is a harbour and small city that was constructed in the Green by the 2nd Division of the Kriegskorps Ludwigshafen of Sankt Ludwigshafen, in cooperation with Bergbaubetrieb Ludwigshafen on 8.XIV.1716, as part of the 1716 Ludwiggian invasion of Northern Cibola. The claim of the Republic of Sankt Ludwigshafen on Nordhafen and the surrounding areas was recognised by the Micras Cartography Society in XV.1716.

The harbour is located in a natural bay, and was founded to export natural resources such as gold and bauxite to Altdorf, to benefit the industry of the Lanzerwalder Republic. The Nordhafen area also found itself in a favorable climate for coffee plantations that belong to the Lanzerwaldladen and that produce coffee for that grocery chain in their domestic market of the Lanzerwald Republic. A factory from Baicha Heavy Industries was also founded in the city during its early days.

The city and the surroundings were expected to be absorbed into the republic, but the Ludwiggian presence in the area remained in an early phase. The territory was eventually transferred to the Imperial Federation as an act of good will in 1721 AN. Tensions arising from this transfer resulted in the 1721 Ludwiggian coup d'état attempt, although this was suppressed by local forces, allowing the transfer of territory to be conducted peacefully. The territory has prospered since, with Nordhafen becoming the region's most populous city owing to its deep water port, favorable climate, and cosmopolitan feel since its foundations.

Currently Nordhafen belongs to Ralgon, a constituent country of the Imperial Federation. The city serves as the regional capital of East Valora, of which Nordhafen is also its largest city.

Rail Transport

There are rail connections within the region to the population centers of Fontaine and Mondotown and to the port of South Glacier City. Inter-regional links lead to non-stop services to nearby Cragspur, and longer-distance non-stop services take passengers and freight to Nova Victoria, Crysalia, and New Valeria -- all to the west.

Thanks to recent changes in visa regimes since 1737 AN, cross-border rail links now connect Nordhaven directly to Gogledd Cybwl. International rail links throughout Cibola now use Nordhafen as a major regional transit point of the multinational Cibolan Rail project. This initiative was founded in 1743 AN by Aemilia, and rail connections include stops in the Imperial Federation, Aemilia (Lanzerwald), Etzeland, Sanama (Gogledd Cybwl), and Natopia (Baudrix).
