Upon its transfer to Elwynn from Francia in 1680, it had a population of 185,705 persons. 85% of these had Amokolian as their native language, and 5% Mishalanese. The remaining 10% at other languages.
Current status
Centre of attention in the Treaty of Mittlere Stadt between Elwynn and Francia where the city would return to Elwynn after 8 years of Frankish administration in return for a population transfer of all Froyalanish persons in the Raspur Pact. The city had already joined the newly formed Elwynnese Republic in the aftermath of the Kalirion Fracture but was taken under the control of the Amokolian Highlanders, and subsequently brought under West Amokolian/Frankish sovereignty. Elwynn had repeatedly asked for the return of Mittlere Stadt, and the Frankish Empire proposed in 1679 that the city be returned to Elwynn for the payment of all remaining Froyalaners in the Raspur Pact. Valuing the prosperity of the Amokolian, Elwynnese and Raspur Pact nations over any rights that the Froyalaners may have to stay in their countries of residence, the Elwynnese and Raspur Pact governments quickly agreed and concluded the Treaty of Mittlere Stadt with the Frankish Empire. In 1680, the city was transferred to the Elwynnese Republic, and was incorporated an Elwynnese bailiwick
In 1670 AN, Mittlere Stadt had 514,778 inhabitants. But when the Amokolian Highlanders entered the city, there were still 273,845 inhabitants. The population grew to 315,254 inhabitants in 1678 AN. When it turned out that the city was to be transferred, the inhabitants who wanted to continue to live under the Frankish flag received support for their relocation. There are still 185,705 inhabitants left. With lots of empty and abandoned property, the city saw an immigration surge from other parts of Elwynn. Within a few months, the population rose to 203,723 by mid-1680.
