The M1693 533 mm torpedo is a heavyweight torpedo, intended for use by area denial installations at sea, capital ships, and submarines, that is being developed by Rothaven Boatyards in the Unified Governorates of Benacia in response to an urgent operational requirement received from Benacia Command in the first month of 1693 AN.

Background

By 1693 AN the Samyaza 610 mm torpedo had passed the point of obsolescence and moreover was unusable on the Type XXV U-Boat, which had become the mainstay U-Boat of submarine services in the Raspur Pact navies following the Kalirion Fracture. Accordingly the Samyaza was allowed to dwindle away, assigned to the now venerable Elwynn-class corvettes and shore based harbour defence installations, without a satisfactory replacement entering service to provide for a war reserve beyond the compliment of 533 mm torpedoes received from Sanama in the first instance as part of the Type XXV procurement.

The Dominator-class missile cruiser had also been designed to carry the Samyaza but it was again felt that a more modernised, longer-ranged and vastly more autonomous, torpedo design was required, based upon experiences reported during the Battle of Rockwind Passage (4.VIII.1692 AN).
