The Lord Steward of the Royal Household (short title: the Lord Steward) is responsible for managing the affairs of the King's lands and estates. The Lord Steward manages the King's Demesne as well as all Royal properties, holdings, companies and other various endeavours.

Role

The role of the Lord Steward includes a multitude of particular responsibilities, in addition to any other responsibilities that may be assigned by His Royal Majesty from time-to-time at his discretion:

  1. Manage the King's Demesne as well as all Royal Properties, Holdings, and Companies;
  2. Manage the other various endeavours, such as preparation of State and Court events, of the Royal House;
  3. Issue invitations on behalf of the Royal House to dignitaries to attend private or semi-private events;
  4. Receive and review invitations from third-parties requesting Royal House attendance at events;
  5. Organize public events involving the Royal House;
  6. Organize public tours of certain Royal Palaces and properties; and,
  7. Administer the registration of charities and the granting of Royal Warrants to the same.

All of these responsibilities are managed from the Office of the Lord Steward of the Royal Household, located within the Old Plaza, in Lonenberg.

Events & Tours Organized

A number of annual events are organized by the Lord Steward and attended by members of the Royal House. In addition to a Royal Garden Party, a State Ball, or an Investiture Ceremony, each of which may be held multiple times throughout the year as need or want permits, and each of which are normally by invitation only, the Lord Steward organizes two major annual celebrations attended by members of the Royal House that are open to the general public:

  1. His Majesty's Birthday Parade, held on July 22, is a parade of personnel from the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Security Police Service, and other institutions, that passes by Lonenberg Palace, before concluding with a ceremony in the Grand Square. The streets along the parade route and the Grand Square are open to the public to observe the parade and ceremony. There are also stands erected in the Grand Square; however, access to those stands are by invitation of His Royal Majesty only.
  2. The Unity Day Festival, held on July 24, takes place in Constitution Park in Lonenberg and celebrates the formation of Gotzborg and its close ties to the Royal House.

Inviting the Royal House to Your Event

If a person or organization within Gotzborg wishes to invite a member of the Royal House to its own event, an invitation should be sent to the Lord Steward at least six-months in advanced. Engagements of the Royal House are planned at least three-months in advanced, so applications for invitations should be made along the same timeline. If the invitation is to attend an event outside of Gotzborg, please notify the Lord Steward of the invitation no less than six-months in advanced as there are additional processes to be met to evaluate and organize international visitations.

There is no guarantee that an invitation will be accepted due to pre-scheduled obligations and other considerations of the Royal House; however, all applications are given consideration.

Royal Warrant for Charities

The Lord Steward accepts applications from a charity within Gotzborg for the grant of a Royal Warrant, allowing the charity to use the term "Royal" in its title. Each application is reviewed on its merit and the Royal House reserves the discretion to deny an application without explanation required. A charitable organization is one that:

  1. Raises money from public donation;
  2. Distributes funds from donations to help those in need;
  3. Helps a specific group of society; and,
  4. Has a set address where donations are to be sent.

Past and Present Lord Stewards

There has been only one Lord Steward since Gotzborg's founding, that being Lord Stewardess Alexandra Lauverman who served from January 1, 2005, to February 14, 2005. Lord Stewardess Lauverman played an instrumental role in the development of the Office and the cataloguing of Royal Holdings. She also used the position to support the founding of the Women's Institute of Micronationalists with branches in Gotzborg and Stormark.

The following holdings and properties are owned directly by His Royal Majesty, who entrusts their maintenance and upkeep to the Office of the Lord Steward of the Royal Household.
