La Légende de Norodom is a celebrated Oportian epic ballet that tells the story of the legendary hero Norodom, who fought to save the Empire of the Alexandrians from a great plague and the chaos that followed. The ballet, composed by renowned Oportian composer Étienne Dubois with choreography by Marguerite Lefevre, premiered at the Théâtre National d'Oportie in 1729 AN and has since become a beloved classic of the Oportian performing arts.

The ballet is set during the Flu Pandemic of 1651 AN in Geneva, Alexandria, an unusually deadly influenza pandemic that devastated the nation of Alexandria. In the story, Norodom, a young Alexandrian nobleman, takes up the cause of helping the sick and needy during the pandemic. He is aided by the wise physician Aurus and the compassionate nurse Esmeralda, with whom he falls in love. As the plague spreads and social order breaks down, Norodom works tirelessly to care for the afflicted and maintain hope in the face of despair. In the end, although Alexandria succumbs to the pandemic and collapses, Norodom's selfless actions save countless lives and inspire the remaining survivors to rebuild and carry on the spirit of their lost nation.

The ballet's haunting score, somber costumes, and emotionally charged choreography capture the tragedy and resilience of the Alexandrian people during one of the darkest chapters in their history. Although set in the past, the story of Norodom resonates deeply with Oportian audiences, as many Oportians are descendants of Alexandrian refugees who fled their homeland after its collapse. The ballet is performed annually at the Théâtre National d'Oportie and has become a cherished tradition.
