Abbreviation KAZ

The Empire of Kazoku was a de jure constitutional monarchy located on Micras. It was a micronation based on Imperial Japan, spanning from the Meiji Period to WWII. Kazoku was not a secessionist micronation. Ninety-nine percent of all things the Empire of Kazoku did were fantasy and role-play. Most citizens in Kazoku role-played as key government officials rather than paupers, because anyone else would have had no reason to talk to the Emperor.

Kazoku was annexed to Holzborg in 1557 AN.

Etymology

The official name of Kazoku is the Empire of Kazoku, or in Japanese ‘Teikoku Kazoku’. The term Kazoku means ‘flowery linage’ which refers to the hundreds of generation of Emperors and Empress who have ruled over Kazoku.

History

The Empire of Kazoku was founded 2,365 years ago (as of 2009CE) by Emperor Kaika who is the founder of the Imperial House of Kazoku. Kazoku became independent in 1551 AN separating from Natopia. The Imperial Calendar uses this as the year since the ascension of the Emperor Kaika.

Government

Kazoku is a Monarchy with the Emperor as de facto Head of State and Government, the Imperial Constitution states “The Emperor is the head of the Empire, combining in Himself the rights of sovereignty”. He appoints ministers and officers to carry out his duties.

Emperor

In addition to being Absolute Ruler of the Country the Emperor is connected to his people by the religion of Zhintoism is which he is the Tenshi or Son of Heaven (Highest Cleric in the religion) this makes him a living god, the connection between the people and the Heavens. The Emperor appoints and dismisses the Prime Minister and members of the Imperial Council which advise him. Children in school are taught to obey the Emperor and about his status as a God. The Emperor holds the title of Supreme Commander of the Imperial Armed Forces, the Navy, the Army, and the Air Force. Traditionally the Emperor only wore Imperial robes; today the Emperor wears Military Uniforms and modern dress suits.

The Emperor is never addressed by his name; he is always addressed as His Imperial Majesty the Emperor. Though most Foreign affairs the emperor is referred to as Emperor Yoshihito. He is only referred to as his given name after he has died. The Emperor lives in the Imperial Palace in the Capital city. The Imperial Palace complex is on a 3.5 sq. Mile Island; this Palace contains the Private Palace of the Emperor. In addition to the Imperial Palace the emperor has numerous palaces all over the country for his and the Imperial Family’s use. The Emperor also has a small fleet of 6 Yachts.

The Emperor is the highest authority in Kazoku on all affairs including but not limited to Government, Civil, Religious and Military. The Emperor is descended from Amaterasu (Sun Goddess) because of this he is a living god who is worshiped by his people. When an Emperor ascends the throne of Kazoku he has no personal name he is simple referred to as His Imperial Majesty the Emperor, His Current Majesty the Emperor, or Informally the Emperor. On all documents the Emperor does sign his Personal name which is called the Imperial Sign-Manual. Referring to an Emperor by his personal name is illegal and considered blasphemy. When a new Emperor ascends the Throne it marks the end of one era and the start of a new. Each Emperor’s reign is considered a era. When they die they are re named by the Imperial cabinet according to their era name, for example the previous Emperor is referred to as the Taika Emperor. Along with an era name each year of the Emperor is numbered, for example the year His Current Majesty acceded was 1978CE, the Taika Emperor died February 3rd of that year so the February 3rd year 1978 is known as Taika 16 and February 4th starts the Meiwa Era and is known as Meiwa 1.

In English his Majesty’s title is Emperor, and in most cases that is which he is referred to as. But the Romanization of the Imperial title is Tenno and Mikado which are still used. The Emperor’s style of Address is His Imperial Majesty (Heika). The Ninju Emperor in 1896 abolished the harem system for Emperors. Before this Emperors had main wife, the Empress, and as many secondary consorts as he wanted. The reason for this was because empresses would not produce male heirs to the throne on the first or second try. The Ninju Emperor abolished this because his Wife the Empress had three girls and his secondary consort had a male, this made her the Empress, The Emperor who loved his wife abolished this and became the first Emperor to ‘divorce’ his secondary consort. The Empress did have a male two years after this, became crown prince after the death of his half brother. The Emperor marries only women of the cadet branches of the Imperial family or women from other Princely families in Kazoku.

The Empire of Kazoku follows pure Salic law. Which means only a male can succeed to the Sakura Throne. Absolute Primogeniture is followed; the Eldest son of the Emperor is de jure crown prince upon his birth. In the event the Emperor dies without a male living heir, his eldest brother ascends the throne.

Last Emperor

The current Emperor was born on March 17, 1971 (age: 37) Emperor Mishihito IV and his Empress. When the young Crown Prince Yoshihito was 7 his father suffered a stroke, and died 2 weeks after. On December 19 1978, the 7 year old Crown Prince was enthroned as Emperor of Kazoku. His Father, a strict conservative ensured that the crown Prince would be prepared for the throne.

The Young Emperors first years were traditional in the ways of Kazoku, when he was 17 he met the Emperor of Natopia, the Emperors became close friends, Emperor of Natopia introduced the Emperor a lot of things including auto racing, Ice Hockey (the Emperors favorite sport) and other modern ideas The Emperor of Natopia even gave him the Christian nickname of Philip. As the Emperor entered his 20s he became a playboy monarch within his Palace, surrounded by friends, family and servants but outside the palace his subjects saw him as their God-Emperor.

Even with his modern life the Emperor is still must be a traditional monarch, like the Emperors before him. Now in his late thirties the emperor’s playboy lifestyle has been toned down. The Emperor is still worshiped by his people and still runs his country as his forefathers did.

Territory

Kazoku is made up of Nine islands in which the Emperor exercises his sovereignty over.
