Jacaringia is a canton of the Grand Duchy of Lac Glacei. It is one of the largest cantons geographically and controls grand duchy's shoreline as well as the only major seaport, Ergo Sum. The Tigra Isles and Ergo Sum are home to Lac Glacei's maritime industry.

History

Originally the eastern half of Cognito, Jacaringia was home the the capital of the United Imperium for many years. After the restoration of the grand duchy, the region was split from Cognito to allow for greater self-rule. It was named in honor of former Emperor Jacobus. The canton has more recently returned to an era of prosperity thanks to its strong maritime industry. As the sole possessor of Lac Glacei's sea-borne assets, Ergo Sum has become a major point of import/export for the grand duchy. It has also become a major information center, thanks in part to its ancient Cyberian roots and the presence of the only remaining Mala'anje reservation on Micras (the Tigra Isles). Careful archivists, they have kept some of Micras' oldest records intact throughout the centuries, and as such have become an important source for historical information.
