Flaming dogwood
Cornus flamma, the Flaming dogwood, is a species of flowering tree native to eastern Tapfer. It is distinguished by its bright red-orange blossoms in the spring. After the 1622 Great Hazel Woods fire, it was the first to regrow, causing the new growth forest to be called Hazelfire Forest until 1663. It was successfully propagated in the Guinevere Dome on Tarsica where it now thrives as well. It has a special significance for the Hazel people who believe that the spirits of their ancestors reside within certain trees, with the Flaming dogwood being a popular vessel for certain Tree Spirits along with the Moon oak, Rough sycamore, and Dark pine.
