The Elwynnese Resistance Organisation formed in 1665 AN following the partition of Elwynn by Imperialist and Theocratic overthrew the Republic briefly established in the aftermath of the Auspicious Occasion. For many Elw, the indigenous ethnic group and majority population of the eponymous region, the destruction of the political identity of their homeland by the Imperial Government with the connivance of the establishment parties (AIP, N&H & VU especially) as well as their Babkhi and Cimmerian neighbours destroyed the last glimmer of faith in the political system of the Imperial Republic whilst simultaneously wrecking the reputation of the nominally pro-independence AIP, which was now fully exposed as being merely a puppet organisation of the Kalirion Supremacy, the overarching and overbearing dynastic and imperial construct which had come to dominate the Benacian continent.
