Elena Lopez de Gautier is a New Alexandrian politician and environmental activist, renowned for her advocacy of green socialism and her impactful tenure as a Deputy in the Federal Assembly for Valencia since 1723 AN. Born on 15.VI.1689 AN, in Chambery, Valencia, Elena has been a prominent figure in Nouvelle Alexandrie's political scene, especially within the Democratic Socialist Party of Nouvelle Alexandrie (DSP).

Early life and education

Elena was born to Joaquin Lopez, a local government officer, and Maria Gautier, a school teacher, both of whom were deeply involved in community service and local governance. Growing up in a politically active household, Elena developed an early passion for social and environmental issues. She attended the University of Chambery, where she graduated with high honors in Environmental Science and Political Science in 1707 AN, laying the groundwork for her future career in politics and activism.

Early career

Before entering politics, Elena worked as an environmental consultant for various non-governmental organizations, focusing on sustainable development projects across Nouvelle Alexandrie. She obtained employment at the Green Initiative of Nouvelle Alexandrie in 1712 AN. Between 1712 AN and 1720 AN, Elena worked her way up to becoming National Executive Director of the organization. Her work included significant contributions to coastal reclamation projects and renewable energy programs, which garnered her recognition as a practical and knowledgeable environmental advocate in Nouvelle Alexandrie.

Political career

Seeking young, dynamic candidates for public office for the upcoming 1723 general elections, Silvio Ruiz approached Elena during a visit to Chambery in 1722 AN to encourage her to become a candidate for Deputy of the Federal Assembly for the Democratic Socialist Party of Nouvelle Alexandrie. Elena quickly accepted, resigning her position as National Executive Director of the the Green Initiative of Nouvelle Alexandrie to pursue a political career.

Deputy of the Federal Assembly

Elected in 1723 AN, Elena has served as a Deputy for Valencia, where she has been instrumental in shaping environmental legislation. Her efforts include pushing for stricter pollution controls, advocating for national parks, and promoting green energy subsidies. Her tenure is marked by a pragmatic approach to environmental policy, balancing economic interests with ecological sustainability.

Candidate for DSP Leader

In the face of growing discontent within the DSP regarding the party's direction and leadership under Gabrielle Fitzgerald, Elena announced her candidacy for the party leadership in early 1732 AN. Her campaign, dubbed "Elena for the People," proposes bold reforms including Nouvelle Alexandrie's withdrawal from the Raspur Pact to assert its neutrality and focus more on domestic sustainability. Her platform has resonated with a significant portion of the party’s base, who see her vision as a return to the DSP's foundational principles of environmental justice and social equality.

Personal Life

On 12.VIII.1729 AN, Elena married Joseph Kelters, a labor organizer from Amapola, Alduria. They have a daughter, Catherine Kelters-Lopez, born 1.III.1731 AN.
