El Fuerte
El Fuerte is the national headquarters of the Federal Forces of Nouvelle Alexandrie (FFNA) located in Cárdenas, the capital city of Nouvelle Alexandrie. The construction of El Fuerte commenced in 1693 AN, coinciding with the transition of Alduria-Wechua to Nouvelle Alexandrie. El Fuerte, translating to "The Stronghold" in Martino, embodies the sovereign power and defensive strength of Nouvelle Alexandrie, representing the concrete manifestation of the Proclamation of Punta Santiago and headquarters of the defense of the Federation.
History
El Fuerte traces back to the era when Nouvelle Alexandrie's lands were part of Alexandria. The site where El Fuerte currently is was the historic location of Fort de l'Étoile, built by the King of Santander before the Santaderian Communist Revolution. This star-shaped fortification played a pivotal role in the defense of the city of Cárdenas, serving as a crucial outpost against invading forces. When Santander was refounded by Nouvelle Alexandrie, there was a need for a larger, more sophisticated military headquarters. The location of the old star fort, strategically positioned and entrenched in the city's history, was chosen for this purpose. After the federation transitioned into Nouvelle Alexandrie in 1693 AN and Cárdenas became the federal capital, construction began on the site by order of King of Nouvelle Alexandrie Manco Cápac I. The transformation of the old star fort into El Fuerte spanned five years, from 1693 AN to 1698 AN. This massive undertaking was executed with a meticulous plan to retain the historical spirit of the site while equipping it with state-of-the-art facilities. The design of the building was centered on a hexagonal layout, incorporating the strengths of the former star fort with new defensive features and modern command and control facilities. The building was designed to hold key defense institutions such as the Department of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff Council, and several key defense agencies and supporting civil service staff.
The initial phase of construction saw the establishment of the command centers, the tactical planning rooms, and the communication hubs, all within the hexagonal main building. This was followed by the creation of the secure data centers, integral to strategic planning and operations. Concurrently, residential and dining facilities were built to accommodate personnel, and recreational areas were established to ensure their well-being. The fortification of El Fuerte was a focus throughout its construction. Advanced surveillance systems were installed, secure perimeters were established, and anti-aircraft defenses were built into its infrastructure, enhancing the building's already robust defensive potential.
Over the following years, further developments added supporting facilities around the hexagonal structure. These included maintenance and logistics centers, additional residential complexes, an expansive hospital, and research and development labs, which were built in the subsequent decades.
Today, El Fuerte stands as a testament to the evolution of Nouvelle Alexandrie's military strength and strategic sophistication, embodying the rich history and the unwavering resilience of the Federation. Its origins as a humble star fort remain a critical part of its identity, even as it continues to evolve in its role as the nerve center of the Federal Forces of Nouvelle Alexandrie.
